One small reason for this blog is to make people aware of my book, “Why Did He Bother?” But believe me, it’s not for the money. I receive very little compensation from this book. I want people to be aware of the book because it’s a true, often humorous story of endurance, perseverance and reconciliation. It has been an encouragement to many who have read it, especially other pastors. GET A FREE PREVIEW of the book from Amazon.com
THE MAIN PURPOSE of this Blog is to look into the Word of God at the lives of real people to see the things they did right, to learn from the things they did wrong and to discover more and more of Jesus as we continue to be transformed into His likeness,\.
I love the Bible. I’ve found it to be the only reliable source of truth upon which a life can be built. It is a solid rock and basing a life on anything else is simply building on shifting sand. It has been my passion and my joy to preach God’s Word and the one I always seem to be preaching to is me.
I believe the Holy Spirit is our teacher. (JOHN :14:26 – “But the Counselor, The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”)
I believe every word in the Bible is inspired by God. The Bible is HISTORICAL Everything in the Bible actually took place exactly as it is recorded. The Bible is RELEVANT. It not only spoke to people thousands of years ago, it still speaks to us today. Regardless of the situations we may be facing in our lives today, the Bible still provides direction. correction, encouragement, hope, comfort, and overcoming victory to those who will believe it and seek to obey it. Most importantly, THE BIBLE IS ALL ABOUT JESUS. From Genesis to Revelation, every Book, every chapter, every verse, every word is pointing us to Jesus, the Way, the Truth, and the Life. The only one who can save us and give us an abundant, ever-lasting life.
I’m naïve enough, simple enough and trusting enough to believe that if we come before the Lord in simple, child-like faith, desiring to know the truth in God’s Word, He (the Holy Spirit) will provide it for us. If we ask for bread, He will not give us a stone. He loves us too much to idly sit back and allow the devil to deceive us. I’ve heard others implying that the Bible doesn’t mean what it actually seems to say. They keep insisting that the Bible really means something it doesn’t actually say. That is definitely NOT what I believe.
I believe we can sit down with the Word of God and have it come alive, speaking directly to our hearts, convicting us, correcting us, instructing us, comforting and encouraging us through the working of the Holy Spirit.
